Prof. Dr. Bernd Mayer speaks clear words in a new interview I insert here (your IP address, which is a “personal date” according to the Data Protection Act, will only be transmitted to Youtube if you watch the film, not if you visit this blog page).
For those who have no time, here is a clear statement on the question of whether fumes “from a scientific point of view” are actually as harmful as smoking, as is still claimed by interested circles.
“I don’t even think you have to be a scientist. It only takes a small amount of common sense to see that combustion smoke is more harmful than fog. E-Cigarettes produce a mist, an aerosol of Liquid droplets that lack combustion products. A study is in principle not necessary! Even in times, in which there were still no studies, I recommended all smokers expressly to change to E-cigarettes. Because it is obvious that this is less harmful. That is also completely clear, and everyone agrees! The resistance comes from politics, from the pharmaceutical industry, from various lobbies, which of course have losses if smokers no longer smoke, but steam.”
Even the new tobacco products that only heat the tobacco and do not burn it, such as IQOS by Phillip Morris, are significantly less harmful than smoking – and only slightly more harmful than steaming. Both alternatives are in any case about 90% more harmless than smoking, says Prof. Dr. Bernd Mayer.
My experiences with the IQOS
I had the opportunity to try out the Icos, not because I blog here, but just because I was at a gas station where a promoter came up to me and let me try out these parts. (If you don’t know it at all, you can watch the comparison video.”IQOS by Philip Morris gegen E Zigarette – Was ist besser für Anfänger / Umsteiger” recommended. Read the comments too! It becomes clear that ICOS do not really evaporate, but die at 300 degrees – MIT residues as we know them from smoking).
My enthusiasm was very limited:
-
- When inhaling you hardly feel anything – compared to the liquid in an adjustable vapour (!).
- Handling the constant load on the tripod and inserting new rods is complicated.
- The “sticks” then allow about 12 moves, so that they are ready and should be loaded on the next stick.
- The rods end up in the ashtray – so no waste has to be produced!
- There are only a few flavors of tobacco – and none else!
- The whole system is sinfully expensive! 20 Sticks 6 Euro – about the same as cigarettes!
As an advantage some can see that the ritual of “cigarette smoking” is imitated. For me, however, steaming is a desired liberation from these restrictions: infinite flavours, extremely low costs (if you don’t go on a higher – faster – journey and “steaming on the cheek” classically) and devices that I don’t have to “operate” all the time.
So: Vape on! 🙂
